Dogan Medienzentrum
For Turkey’s largest media corporation the Dogan Media Group, the architects Tabanlioglu built the « Dogan Media Center » in the capital Ankara. The building has an effective area of 11.500 m2 and is home to office spaces and studios for the editorial teams of daily newspapers and tv channels, including Turkey’s two largest newspapers Hürriyet and Milliyet. The overhangs and recesses of rectangular boxes are stimulating the modest glass cube. These boxes are representing the variety of companies within this large corporation. The patterned holes in the metal facade are enhancing the »dynamic« atmosphere. The lighting design concept is continuing this principle in the ceiling inside the building. Linear light fittings are directed toward the concrete ceiling and their reflected light enters the interior through a perforated wooden ceiling. in addition to that adjustable spots lights are used for general and accentual lighting.
